Choosing Holiday Promotional Items

With the holidays coming up, you may want to prepare an appropriate giveaway for preferred clients. Sending a holiday gift is a good way to get your brand remembered and show customer appreciation. Depending on your business, you may want to refrain from offering anything that gives preference to one specific religion, but organizations such as churches and certain political groups may be better off buying items that are affiliated with specific beliefs.

Whatever your specific needs, there are quite a few options for holiday gifts, and it is up to you to decide which is most appropriate for your clientele. Here are a few ideas:

•    Food Gifts. Gift baskets and custom chocolate gifts are always welcome amongst persons of any religious order. The main problem with these is the expense. If you’re on a budget, a custom wrapped chocolate bar with your company name may suffice, or you may consider skipping the promotional product stores all together and building your own gift baskets for top clients –just make sure to include a card with your company name so they know who to thank.

•    Christmas Cards. These are an effective method to send greetings to your many clients without spending a fortune. While you could buy generic Christmas cards at any local store, purchasing them from a promotional product company will allow you to brand them with your logo and a personal message.

•    Calendars. If you provide your clients with a calendar before they buy their own, there’s a good chance they use your calendar and reflect on your brand throughout the new year. These are also very good non-denominational gifts.

•    Stress Relievers. These squishy toys are a good option for doctors, yoga practitioners and other businesses that urge customers to reduce their stress levels, which can peak around the holidays. For the seasonal theme, you can order customized stress relievers in the shape of Santa, the Star of David or snowmen, but remember to orient your gift selection in a manner that will not offend or alienate any of your customers.

•    Ornaments. Many promotional product stores offer customizable Christmas ornaments. While these can be a cute way to send your message, they are quite limiting in that they are only used once a year and many people have too many ornaments to keep corporate ones year after year.

•    Holiday CDs. An increasing trend in holiday promotional products is the concept of holiday CDs. Most stores carry two versions: a Christmas album and a seasonal mix with no religion-specific music. These can be given with cards or on their own. These are a good option for the holiday season, but it is important to remember that like Christmas ornaments, they will be shelved for almost an entire year before clients look at them again.
